History of Poetry
Beowulf
I have a big dick
and I killed some
monsters
The Odyssey
I’m on a boat,
I have a big dick
and I killed
some monsters
Epic of Gilgamesh
I have a big boat
and a big dick,
and I want to live
forever so I killed
some monsters
Collected works of William Shakespeare
We could die
Or fuck
Or both
Yes, both.
Don Juan, by Lord Byron
Everyone
fucks
me!
Yay!
No, wait, boo?
Annabelle Lee, by Edgar Allen Poe
We fucked and
you died.
Damn.
Howl, by Alan Ginsburg
The world has so
fucked me that
I’m going to
scream until I die
Paradise Lost, by John Milton
Well, I got kicked out
of heaven so
the world is fucked.
But hey,
at least we die
Inferno, Dante
The afterlife
is fucked too
So. Yeah.

Dear B,
I am a huge fan of abridged history. I would agree with this analogy of study.
A very enjoyable review of poetry from A to Zed in twenty seconds! Brilliant 🤭

lol! Inferno has a lot of merit. But it’s a chewy read
Even if you don’t immerse yourself, go look up Dante’s levels of hell. They show up as allusion everywhere.

Walt Whitman- Unabridged humanity....he both has and is the same appendage, and the form fits the function.

This reminds me of a really great series I watched on HBO before it was HBOMax, but it's still available on that streaming service, show called Rome. In the opening scenes, they give you a montage of scenes to kind of create that air of the time period, the zeitgeist I guess. One of the scenes is a graffiti drawing of a roman soldier with a big erection and the word ARMA is written under it, which I supposed means something akin to soldier or war. In the opening scene of that show, one of the roman legionnaires is humping a shepherd girl against a tree, finishes up and turns to his cohorts (literal cohort) and raises his arms and yells his manliness. And really the whole show revolves around politics and intrigues and erections, so obviously it was such a great show. It's such a crazy thing, having the sense of time and memory we have developed in this little eyelash flutter of spacetime of our brief existence. Anyhow this is cool and funny writing, got me thinking obviously.

I haven’t seen that but I damn sure will look for it.
History is pretty much 100 erection-based. So that sounds like it was spot on.
Thanks again Daniel. If I made you think, I totally won!

They are mostly pretty good if a little bloviated. But they didn't have internet or indoor plumbing for most of those, so it's fair.
Good. Better than ever.
How you been?
