Love her heart!
My great grandmother will be 98 this year.
She loves to sit on her front porch in the summer, making pictures out of clouds.
Her daughter, my grandmother, always snipping back, where mom? Although I see what she's talking about clear as day, my grandmother has a short fuse. Its really sad too, I mean, what's it gonna hurt for you to just agree and say, yeah mom, I see it too?
Nonetheless, she wants to argue with her like it matters.
So when my grandma turns her head, I whisper to my great grandmother, I see it too.
And I really do!!! Angels faces, elephants, little children...grumpy old men or maybe women Lol
But because I know I'll get the same ol...y'all are crazy response, I let great grandma know she's not alone without letting others judgements fall on me and my child like mind.
I miss this place, rolling green hills, the smell of freshly cut hay.
I grew up here, running across this front porch as fast as I could get it, knowing my grandpa who claimed a rocking chair at the end always had his fly swat ready to get me if I didn't jump high enough as I ran through.
He never meant it, it was just fun for me and funny for him.
Every Sunday after church the family would gather on the same porch to hand crank homemade ice cream.
Us kids would run the creek banks catching crawdads and salamanders until the cranking was done, then the dinner bell would ring and we all went running, last one theres a rotten egg, but it didnt matter really, because once we plunged our parched lips into pineapple banana, cold goodness, there was no loser.
Why does life have to change?
It just crushes my heart to reminisce. I miss everyone! Now, everyone aged, some of them gone, I just love my family. I hope heaven is like that, full of sunshine, family and homemade ice cream. I hope we all make it there, I wouldn't want to sit on any front porch without a single one of them. Everyone had their place to make the picture complete.
