Roja
Will daisies do,
to tuck over your ear today?
You don't seem pretentious.
Roses will follow, my love
Deep red ones, like garnets.
I will flick the thorns off
as I wait for you
I will kiss your hand
and then place the flowers
out, in front of me.
Here, here is how
my heart feels now.
All things dark;
I've outlasted them.
They roared, they threatened
until they finally sighed
And I said not one goodbye
to all that unimportance.
You smiled, and a light
I've not seen, shined on me.
You laughed, and a weight
I've carried fell, I shed it
and kicked it behind me
as I got closer to you.
Newfound strength; I will carry you
over a threshold of tomorrows.
I will tuck your head to my neck.
My own smiles, now, will shelter you
from all bad days.
And nights, my goodness; I will caress
the moonlight into you.
I will time myself
to your pantings for breath.
I will devour the colors
of the thrush upon your chest
-Thus my lips, red.
I will call you my savior.
Because you are
and because you did.
