First Date
To have tried so many times
To satisfy both your heart and mind
And for every time to had been wrong
You feel as if I'm the same old song
Instead of feeling the pains of new found love
The kind displayed by someone sacrificing the great above
And all the promises that it has been made
I'm totally satisfied to die in your shade
The first signs of love is unselfish truth
Looking no farther than our hearts for the proof
Never daring to ever compare
For what's in the past let it remain there
But everyone else teetered along the brinks
Afraid to dive in, afraid to sink
But with one last breath
I dove to your depths
Swearing to revive whatever was left
Or help you to embrace death
Knowing there will be no help
I felt no pity, not even for myself
But you were weighted around heart and mind
The anchor was there, it wasn't hard to find
But you Boo, you added to the weight
Your biggest problem is that you're to hard to satiate
Please stay focus and work with me, let's separate the wants from the needs
Let's identify what is enough from what is greed
With this knowledge the weight will abate, the anchor becoming rubber will inflate
And while rising to the stars we can relate, on moving this thing beyond a first date
To satisfy both your heart and mind
And for every time to had been wrong
You feel as if I'm the same old song
Instead of feeling the pains of new found love
The kind displayed by someone sacrificing the great above
