Imagination in Disguise

I like to surrender to my own quiet thoughts.

I can’t wait to get them on paper.

Do your thoughts comfort you, keep you company?

Or do they cast a spell over you, tell on you, or themselves?

As I put words down on a brilliant white background they look as though they are floating just above the paper.

At times I can’t type fast enough as my eyes chase them across the page.

The paper absorbs the ink and feeds my mind as I read what the words have to say.

So, I imagine life inside my mind as I imagine my daily reflections.

In reality life can move in a quick lickety-split kind of way.

In meditation you are only present in the moment.

And then I look up to see the crucifix hanging from the lampshade.

It’s always good to be comforted by prayer, we all need a kindred kind of love.

I will patiently wait until spring when the lilacs bloom.

Then I will embrace their fragrance and remember my youth.

I will soon feel a renewed sense of optimism.

And the darkness will fade away until night time falls once again.

I will then find slumber beneath angel’s wings as winter snow begins to fall.
