Rainbow Socks (More Than Goth)
There is a girl that once was cheery,
But growing up made her mood dreary.
She used to wear so many colors,
But now she won’t wear any other.
Black is all that she will wear,
So her classmates start to stare.
Even her nails are painted black,
They whisper “goth” behind her back.
In the hallway they will push her,
Mock her on their home computers.
Her soul then becomes even darker,
They laugh at her amongst the lockers.
Well then she had a colorful scheme,
She could counteract their being mean.
She wore paired rainbow knee-high socks,
To prove that she was more than goth.
She hid these socks under long pants,
And waited for the perfect chance,
To reveal her concealed rainbow tights,
To someone that knew her soul was bright.
So she walked everyday inside the hall,
Nobody noticed, no one at all.
They all still called her just a goth,
But she remembered her rainbow socks.
One day there was a time in class,
When she let out a great big laugh!
There was a boy that then did notice,
That darkness wasn’t her intended focus.
He said, “You’re the most colorful goth I know!”
She impishly said she had something to show.
She then revealed her rainbow socks,
This boy now looked extremely shocked.
He then laughed and shook his head,
She looked at him and then she said,
“You are right! I am not goth!
That’s why I hide these rainbow socks.”
So her vision was accomplished,
She proved to the world she wasn’t gothic.
This boy had done her soul a favor,
Her chromatic spirit never wavered.
So now that she felt understood,
She knew her socks were meant for good.
She was a rebel with a mission,
Her rainbow socks are now tradition.
But growing up made her mood dreary.

But now she won’t wear any other.
