Lovers' Confessions (Inspired by my daughter's journal entry.)

There was only slight deception.
We acknowledged past lovers
though I’d left out how
recent my last time had been.

You thought I was sweet and innocent.
Not so innocent in light of the sex I had
the night before we met.

It wasn’t love, but emotional
needs mixed with the biology of a
girl who’d been alone too long.
I'm still young after all!

He had his way with me. It felt beautiful
in those moments and I thought he would
fill the empty ache in my chest.

I was left alone in tears as echos of
his parting demands rang in my ears.

You said God would take care of our past,
but some injuries can never be wiped clean.
