The Initial Setup
Forcing these fragile fingers
To leave you waiting in mystery.
Not allowing myself to leave you a reminder
Of how desperate I must be.
Holding inside, these shaking bones,
The fear of inadequacy.
Rising to the surface,
Every insecurity, every doubt.
Sitting in the shadow of paranoia,
As I wait for your hint of care.
Letters lead to words,
That lead to a bleeding heart.
Holding it all together
With masking tape and tears,
I wait for your call.
Forcing these fragile fingers,
To leave myself set up for failure.
To leave you waiting in mystery.
Not allowing myself to leave you a reminder
Of how desperate I must be.
Holding inside, these shaking bones,
The fear of inadequacy.
Rising to the surface,
Every insecurity, every doubt.
Sitting in the shadow of paranoia,
As I wait for your hint of care.
Letters lead to words,
That lead to a bleeding heart.
Holding it all together
With masking tape and tears,
I wait for your call.
Forcing these fragile fingers,
To leave myself set up for failure.
