CLIVE

The Hastings Cliff Railway
Like stairways to the heavens
I don't know who this Cliff bloke is
But sure his surname's not Evans

They've been around for quite some years
They get you to the top, in a jiff
Not sure of the names of the passengers
But surely not all called Cliff

But i must admit, i heard it said
That whilst he was still alive
That Cliff preferred his other name
And was better known as Clive

So next time you're in Hastings
To experience this fabulous town
If you ask to travel on the Cliff Railway
You'll get greeted with a frown

But worry ye not, oh funny peeps
For Cliffy Clive was a clown
For he worked on the following premise
That what goes up, must come down

So get a two way ticket
Or follow the footpaths down
As you tour around this happy place
Of this curious seaside town
