Not the One
life can get so hard
beat down till you can't walk
then someone says something inspirational
that will turn it all around
pull yourself up from your bootstraps
time to get that job you wanted
oh, and that girl you like
she'll be yours, just try!
except that's not quite right
because sometimes life sucks
you try so fucking hard
just to have some shit head
shit on your hard work
then the laziest fuckers get all the attention
and the few that say they like you
can't spend a second to ask about you
you have a really good work ethic
too bad your job sucks and so does your boss
and the girl you want can't stand you
but she ain't the only one
yeah you work out and keep up with appearances
but once you open your mouth
it's like you're speaking another language
and they say they understand
but they don't fucking understand
how could they understand?
they can't see past their own needs
some say to seek therapy
but you like who you are
and fuck what they think
they are the problem anyway
because sometimes life is misery
and it's not from a lack of trying
getting so tired of all that ableist talk
it gets fucking frustrating
guess your not the one
those motivational speeches and happy endings
must be for people who aren't you

Sometimes life can come at you like a total shit storm without warning or reason. I know I've experienced that and I'm sure most people have feel the same or similar.
The 'when life hands you lemons just make lemonade' kind of mentality, I am not. I'm darker and have had harsher obstacles. However, I've learned that apathy is a scourge pulling one into an abyss so after weather any bad shit storm, you've got to force clean yourself up, dig deep and start anew.... as difficult as that sometimes can be. There really can be positives to be found when making it through...
I think that there's a lot of folks here on DUP that get that, too.

It's hard to care for others when you have a hard time taking care of ones self. I was (probably not surprising) listening to "Fortunate Son". Was thinking how sometimes things don't work out, and it's just harder for people sometimes. And this whole adittude that some people have of you're not trying hard enough is rather bullshit. Yes, keep trying for you never know, but that's doesn't mean it's always in the cards.
