The Witch Patch Ch 4

The trouble with neighbors

After gaining my composure, I get up off the ground and attempt to brush myself off from any leaves that might be stuck to me. It is now the second week in October here in Plymouth Massachusetts, and it is at peak season. There  are literally millions of leaves on the ground and anywhere else they can cling themselves too, including my clothes.

A bunch of oak, maple, and dried up grass hitched a ride onto my shirt and jeans and unfortunately the brush-off strategy was unsuccessful. So, I start plucking leaves off my clothes one by one, while walking alongside my little sister towards home.

“You okay Blake?” "I’m fine" I tell her. “In fact, let’s race the rest of the way home". Of course I ran at a much slower pace than usual and of course Hero took off first leaving me in the dust. Man is that wolf pup fast!

Raven and I made it home in record time with Hero winning the race. After giving my baby sister a congratulatory high five for her pup’s win, Raven uses her skills of telekinesis to unlock the front door with a simple nonchalant twirly spin using her index finger on her right hand.

The second we walked into the foyer we were both met with crates of apples, pumpkins, a bushel of leaves and even an 8 pk of apple pumpkin fritters I grabbed while shopping at Garrison’s earlier today. Michael, the second oldest male in our family, also my younger brother, and my youngest brother Ryder did me the favor and dragged it all home after leaving the Orchard for the day.

Fabian, Michael, Rocky, Velvet Delilah and Ryder are all sitting down in the living room in portrait mode, as if waiting for our arrival. “What’s going on? what’s wrong?" I asked suspiciously.

Delilah was first to speak. “Nothin’ what’s wrong with you?” she asked me in a voice like Pee-wee Herman, then threw a savage rolling laugh my way. I gave my younger sister an eye roll then paid her no mind.

“Raven, please go to the kitchen and put on an apron. I’ll be there in a few minutes" I tell her while hurrying her along with my right arm moving her foward. "Ok Blake" she said and went to leave. Delilah got up off the rocking chair and said “Wait for me, I’ll go with you sis" and they left together.

As soon as the girls were out of sight I blurted out “we need to talk” directing my outburst towards Fabian, well mostly anyway. We all agreed to talk over dinner. Feeling uneasy I immediately locked all the doors and windows with a protection charm using Belatrix, my wand, which is aptly named after a villainess in the Harry Potter book series. I don’t usually do this but the hairs on my neck are standing straight up! Something doesn’t feel quite right. In fact, there’s been a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach and in the dark corners of my mind since we left Wanda’s this afternoon. If I’m being honest, and I am, things haven’t felt right for a while.

You see, over two and a half years ago on March 19th 2020 we suffered a huge tragedy and loss. Both our parents caught severe Covid-19 and died. Even with all our magick and powers we could not save them. We didn't have the remedy for such an ailment and there just wasn’t enough time as their deaths came swiftly. Not long after our parents died it became clear that certain people are trying to take over our land, and will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Thinking back now, not once did the head of the witches council take any of our concerns or complaints seriously or take any action, sighting “no one in their right mind— would ever dare take on any member of the Breakstone family,” let alone their entire family and clan. Especially after the incident 5 years ago!”

"Yeah right, our family knows better!”

After I paused for thought, I snapped back to reality and headed to the kitchen to start dinner with Raven. Rocky and velvet followed behind to make dessert.

Oh and by the way, all children of Breakstone & McGovern blood have the power of telepathy. Fabian & Raven however, were both born with the extra talents of telekinesis & necromancy which means, they have the power to move objects and beings without a wand and even reverse death. However, only if the death was caused by magick. Lucky for them this power was passed down through our mothers blood

To be continued…
