A Letter to a Witch
If life is poetry
and poetry is life,
we are all haunted
and hiding from the light.
We hide from our demons,
cowering from strife
but sometimes writing poetry,
we are one with the night.
I am on the outside looking in,
you are on the inside looking out.
This separation is a prison
as I gnaw at the bars of my cage.
I reach for you with rhyme,
you reach for life no longer blind.
An eternal chase for an immortal fire,
a moth to near the flame,
longing for the blistering pyre.

This is an absolutely beautiful letter Shaman. Truly... I know for me I can identify so much with your words. Being haunted and hiding from the light. I often say I am a vampire meant for darkness, the light just burns. Perhaps embracing my demons rather than hiding from them. Definitely one with the night. So often my writing is about just these things. The separation can be a prison sometimes. The separation from ourselves, from you, from love ones, from our demons, angels too. The loneliness and emptiness inside can certainly be a prison. But gnawing at the bars is that passion that always burn inside to get out no matter what, and it will. And that rhyme becomes a rhythm of life. The eternal chase is never letting go of the passion and living for every moment. A moth needs the flame. This is really deep and meaningful and so beautiful.
