Pitching Woo

To be pitched woo, charmed,
enchanted and seduced
alas things of a time long past
forgotten and unknown
to this era of fast, fast as you can go…
To be read poetry with gallant "savoir faire"
confident, maybe brash but never crude,
always a gentlemen was the norm,
to court a lady which your eye has caught;
under no circumstance are you to be lewd,
that would just never do
because to woo a woman is an art,
lost by the young, yet could be
recaptured if you are smart.
Ahh… but it is an unknown language that I speak
for you know not the meaning of my speech.
To beguile the lady with words so tender,
gently caressing her cheek
that was a masculine endeavor,
 to slowly  kiss her lips
enticing her into your arms;
ohhh… what magic could be woven
at the hand of a patient man who was soft spoken,
but I have strayed from the present time,
reminiscing about a bygone era
lost in an epoch when courtship was sublime.
