Whate'er befalls

I sit here, look back on my life
At all the triumphs, all the strife
It taught me one thing, til it's done
Whate'er befalls, you carry on

The parents dead, grandparents dead
They saw their own last setting sun
Each morning ray, and each new day
Requires me to carry on

Sometimes it's heavy, and it's hard
When falling down to rise anew
You will not always do your best
Sometimes you'll barely muddle through

But one will call, and you will answer
An angel, friend, god, Buddha, loved one
An re-ignite that voice that says:

"My friend, until the race is run
Whate'er befalls, you carry on"

Whate'er it is that you may go through
I wish you a new rising sun
Cause each new ray invites to stay
On the path of the gift of day

The path, I learned through all the tears
The path, I learned through all the fears
The path that is the only one

That whispers in the midst of all
Whate'er befalls, you carry on

Because you're strong enough, you can!

Author's Note
Over the last 15 years I lost both my parents and both my grandparents. In some ways life has been very good to me, in some ways it has been very hard. But there was always a way to go on. I wish that everybody who is going through something carries this knowledge with them: There is always a way. If you're alive then it's not over.
