I'm ashamed
because mostly we write about
bodies
We detail our gratification and desires
sensations of the skin
where women and men
display feelings overpowered
through pleasure or pain
transported by ink
to realms of fantasy
a false flag masquerade
cunningly rebranded as 'love'

Just when did we begin
the culture of orgasms hooray
unveiling precious trophies
for public consumption
to be dangled like dreams
and held captive in a mysterious jar
foolishly labelled 'heart'

Try explaining that
to kids who burn and starve
fleeing their homes in fear
running hungry through bloody fields
while the masturbators
put up their feet
jerking harder
to scribble even more smut

I can't explain
but I am guilty
and that's why
I'm ashamed
