Dr. Frankenstein
flying too close to the sun
I feel it in the strings of my guitar
no man should possess shuch power
that's why most people don't understand
they think I'm some faithless wanderer
in reality I do follow a bible
you can find my verses within lyric sheets
screaming out pain
like I'm screaming in the face of death
not even God can stop me
because in the studio I'm the maker
call me Dr. Frankenstein
I've created a monster
filled with sadness and anger
passion and love
calling forth the blood of the lamb
to take control till the after show
where I can get some butt
from a backstage slut
she thinks she knows me so well
really she just knows the devil
in all his sex appeal
getting up the next night
plugging in baby to take flight
this time I just might
burn up

I am sooo digging this piece, DC!
Really great job at capturing a sort of confessional inner monologue from this fictionalized rockstar. I think you came from this uniquely cool place of anger, angst and mayhem but also worked in that deep passion for lyrics/music as his practicing religion... which was freaking awesome. I loved the title even more when understanding how you incorporated that metaphor directly into your write... Yesss!!! I get this almost flight of Icarus mythological feel, too....
So wonderfully immersive, I was there for it from beginning to end!!

I have a love of music, but more so for rock. Sometimes I like to live vicariously though my poetry. I'm sure in another life I am living the dream haha.

Very much captures the rock and roll lifestyle of a musician.
That endless drive to create something powerful and share it.
Everything in life becomes a lyric sheet to harness that power.
I love how you have embodied that in the creation of a monster.
And you also created a monster within yourself that must feed.
On the blood of a backstage slut, so eager to take the devil in.

I think to me to be able to perform that little monster in ones head is the ultimate dream. Poetry gives me a bit of that dream. Powerful is a great word I would use for it.
