Wishful Thinking

The only way to forget or ease the hurt
Is by remembering the times you took to flirt
The time you'ld enter wearing nothing but a shirt
Just to make my life seem like dessert

I admit it's not just you that I miss
I need your tender caress and ambrosia kiss
Tender words of what I mean to you
And the assurance that you'll see me through

There're some who want to much out of life
All I need is you, my eternal light
To pull me close in the middle of the night
And when day breaks, help me to win the fight

Thinking back to when we first met
Our first smiles and determined each other to get
Dedicating ourselves to each other
To more than frienship, towards lovers

Barely audible words of pent up emotions
Fiery embraces greased by desire's lotion
In a universe of silence, the only commotion
Our frame of mind, our total devotion

Short gasps and clutches of desperation
Hurdles leapt fulfilling temptation
Is it reality or just my imagination
That brings me this close to such sensations

Declarations of love in the middle of the night
As far as tomorrow, our only foresight
Trying with all my might to do everything right
Holding you just enough, but not to tight

But it's happened before and I hate to bring it up
Heaven was once even corrupt
A mountain is only a mountain until it erupts
And there's a very thin line between love and lust

You had changed you were trying to get caught
Picking fights with me although we never fought
Walking in the rain to cleanse my every thought
My mind carrying the filth the years have brought

This is a question I pondered for a while
Why did you place my love into exile
By denying me my right to see you smile
You placed my very existence on trial

Friends said, "to hold fast, be brave
There's no use to rant and rave"
why couldn't it be my life that you saved
Instead of sentencing me to this cold grave

Sentence to spend the rest of my life alone
I can't hide the pain that you've shown
My mind realizes that I'm on my own
While my heart denies that you're gone

Just as there's a link between space and time
There's a need for unity between heart and mind
By letting my soul draw the line
I hid my own treasure to find

A chest filled with drops of you here
From ecstacy to envy consist of you near
Each drop fell was a counted tear
Each tear counted was an emotion feared

I'd known jealosy it had been here before
Afraid to leave the house, you was worth more
Swelling my heart like the ocean from shore to shore
There was nothing outside that I hadn't seen before

But jealousy travels with a friend called greed
Having you all to myself wasn't a want but a need
I thought I had the answer to your every question
Wanting more than possible started our depression

Such worthless memoirs could hardly be considered treasures
But when mixed with drops of you it's pure pleasure
No one else could endure the deceit and pain
Having hope in a universe where none remains

Last night I slept a perfect night's sleep
Instead of crawling back to reality, I did it with a leap
But there was something nagging me, ripping at my seems
Because I woke up sweating and can't remember by dream

But upon seeing a picture of you
My memory returns and my day is through
Calling in sick, I can't make it today
My heart is ill, but my mind seems okay

My first thoughts are of reconciliation
Repossession of my everything my only salvation
Can I be the problem with all civilization
Since you're my every dream, my very imagination

Don't you know that trying to forget you without your shirt
Is like trying to figure how many grains builds a desert
How many drops makes an ocean
Or what could stop me if you ever got the notion

The notion to return a love that was once mine
The pattern by which the whole universe was designed
Enough to make Satan toe the line
All I needed was a sign

Deciding to read my mail while feeling no better
I discovered that you've written me a letter
Quickly tearing it open, I simply couldn't wait
You just mailed the letter, but it's eons to late

Through blurry eyes I learned why
You decided to test my love, giving my heart a try
Quick decisions made in haste
Adds up to bad relationships laying in waste

But you were whip with a rage that trapped your mind in a cage
You can see the key but you're virtually afraid
afraid to exit the dark and enter the light
Looking at yesterday with tomorrow's foresight
 
After so much lost in failed attempts
You're scared to trust, filled with contempt
Within a tear that dropped on the letter
I saw a life that needed to get better

The continuous lies followed by beatings
The uncertain where abouts, worried about cheating
By giving me a chance, this letter alone
Let's me know you still love me and wants to come home

But you have to know that I'm real and not another fake
Will you succeed this time or make another mistake
You want to but you're scare to trust me
Needing a commitment of more than wanting me

I just can't call I need to see you face to face
Pull you ever so close and tell you, "you're safe"
Whether I love you should never be the case
How can I watch you run without giving chase

True love is protected by not only heart but mind
Knowing that you're in love eliminates the need to find
By worshiping your love in a mental shrine
It seems that I held you physically confined

By standing back and taking another look
I see myself standing in the footprints of a crook
Tiptoeing around issues that needed to be discussed
While breaking into your heart was considered a must

By taking me back, we share the blame
Admitting my mistakes lets you know that I'm not the same
Please stop waiting on your ship, it finally came
If you unite with me even the winds can be tamed

Is it right that we should suffer so
Expecting the answer to questions that the oracles don't know  
Will this end in hurt, how long will it last
Do I represent your future or am I a reminder from your past

At first there's broken conversation and eye contact
But true love is like a magnet, needing only love to attract
Even the long walks that I use to take in the rain, a selfish act
Nothing in existence could hold us back

But now that we're together again
There're other things that I can forget besides the rain
 Believing in ancient potions and mystical concoctions
Treating our love like it was up for auction

A fire blazes for such a short time
Not because the materials hard to find
But the more you grease the more the wheel grinds
That's the way I feel about our love it's always on my mind

Now looking back into the past at you and me
Two stars chasing each other across the galaxy
For an amount of time that compares to infinity
Finally colliding fulfilling our destiny
