Pearls
PEARLS
The chittering hum
Of big green bugs
Rattles the trees around me
For miles you can hear
The quick
And steady
Midday lullabye
While leaves rustle about
On branches they sit
Humming away under eaves of shade
A playful song
To tease your ears
While beads of salty sweat
Plead away under the beating sun
To drip down my face
And past my ears
Where a breeze finds them
And they cool into little pearls on the skin
Only to be wiped away
On the edge of my skirt
Lost to the woven fabrics
So desperately trying to escape with the wind
I wish to escape
With the wind too
A longing to evaporate
Into the aether
Like water on hot pavement
Or fabrics in the wind
The chittering hum
Of big green bugs
Rattles the trees around me
For miles you can hear
The quick
And steady
Midday lullabye
While leaves rustle about
On branches they sit
Humming away under eaves of shade
A playful song
To tease your ears
While beads of salty sweat
Plead away under the beating sun
To drip down my face
And past my ears
Where a breeze finds them
And they cool into little pearls on the skin
Only to be wiped away
On the edge of my skirt
Lost to the woven fabrics
So desperately trying to escape with the wind
I wish to escape
With the wind too
A longing to evaporate
Into the aether
Like water on hot pavement
Or fabrics in the wind
