Second Thoughts

I've been fixated on this particular star all of my life
It's been a reason to look up in my times of strife
In my deepest depressions, my most painful sorrow
It was my inspiration for yet another tomorrow

In my times of anxiety, the twinkling my calmer
The dance that we performed, returned me to normal
The twinkling in it's eyes, the heat radiated
Nothing else in existence could had satiated

The beast within that refused to be contained
Those little pulses helped me to maintain what remained
That grip around my heart, that banging in my brain
Yes those little pulses helped to reduce the strain

We bonded on a level hard to describe
In my times of need, it has been just what the doctor prescribed
With a loving touch that only a few have felt
Communicating through Morse code to make my heart melt

Yes, my little star, to it I have always been true
I swore to the universe to always remain true
In all of my life I've never been confused or wondered what to do
My world was at peace and then came you
