I remember coming back to my senses from time to time
And she would be right there before my eyes
"A penny for your thoughts," is what she would say
I was to scared to tell her that I was praying that this never went away
I was scared to tell her of the flashbacks that were just haunting me
Before she dove into my depths and rescued me
Never the nag but definitely committed
She said that she was feeling this and wanted to know if I was with it
If only she could possibly see the raging storms she calmed inside of me
Times that I thought I was going out of my mind, she rained sanity
At a time when all of existence was against me
She swore her love and allegiance, and vowed to protect me
But I've always been the calm right before the storm
I live right before the stampede, when the herd is restless, and continue to snort
They're hoofing at the ground, lighting flashes, it's to late to abort
Thunder's report shatters the walls of the herds fort
Off to the races the herd, my mind, racing wild
Racing across the mental plains of nothing and then everything between the dials
But you took me from analog to digital, from antonym to solid state
Never before has I ever trusted anyone with the decisions of my fate
We are the tale of two cities, I'm praying this is the never ending story
I'm curled watching something romantic, instead of searching for something bloody and gory
this time sex isn't about the numbers, or an attempt to stake my claim
The morning after is followed by more healing, instead of bleed more pain
After being bound for so long it's hard for a dog to realize that he's no longer chained
No longer being torture, there is a purge happening within my heart and my brain
You've reconnected me to the universe and humanity all the same
Yes as I lie here looking into your eyes, I realize that utopia was just contained
And she would be right there before my eyes
