Mansions in Paradise

It will not save us
scrawling notes
from a sinking ship
We should have listened
to those freaks in '76
when the oceans still seethed
with life
when we had time enough
for change
But your sun of dollars
burned too bright
fed dreams of greed
that poisoned hearts
turned sanity deranged
So what use now
those fancy cars
or your finest mansions
in paradise
when the flames dance
and the railroad buckles
while the highway waits
to ignite
