Make it Count
Dear Xavier,
Remember that car ride on the way to school?
When I told you that these days will go by fast
That first day seemed like it was a long time ago
But look how quickly four years have passed
I remember being happy and excited for you
As I watched you cross the street in my mirror
I sighed, you weren’t our little bear cub anymore
Adulthood seemed to be getting nearer and nearer
Through every obstacle, through every struggle
Through all the frustrations, vexations and tears
The light inside you never gave way to the gloom
Even when you faced your darkest angst and fears
You did it! You made it buddy! So make it count
Reach for those dreams in near and distant shores
We’re all proud of you, congratulations my son
Go forth because the future, the world is yours
