Wannabe Goliath

Open your eyes to
the grace of your nature.
Kindness is not so
unbecoming—
the gentle giant
makes his way
into hearts
and remains longer
than the terrible beast.
Compassion kills a soul,
tears apart a heart
daily
yet is more suitable
to the lamb
hidden in the
wolf’s clothing.
Your friends are there-
not because of the times
you laughed at them-
but for when you let
your guard down
and your heart
peeks
out.
