I Broke The Truth, Because It’s Hotter That Way Sometimes
Lines of light are cut
with horizontal black
from the Roman blinds
the tousle of your hair
a cascade of lies spoken at dinner
that we weren’t fucking tonight
your reminder that I’m a liar
white dress crumpled to the floor
traces of your delicate flesh
on my fingers as they slip
deftly into hollow caverns
your sigh in my ear a truth
that ignites a body that was desperate
to tell you
that we’re not going there tonight
I go down like the setting sun
a slow crash into the cry of waves
I embed my lack of self control
my total hypocrisy
into what I should have left undone
because you tempt me more than
I can stand
I release the burden of clothes
tucking my conscious failures away
to beat myself with later
because we’re fragile creatures
your warm body was better
than the cold sheets I had waiting elsewhere
we drift apart like flame lanterns
I can feel your victory in the dark
it’s flickering on the ceiling
with horizontal black
from the Roman blinds
the tousle of your hair
a cascade of lies spoken at dinner
that we weren’t fucking tonight
your reminder that I’m a liar
white dress crumpled to the floor
traces of your delicate flesh
on my fingers as they slip
deftly into hollow caverns
your sigh in my ear a truth
that ignites a body that was desperate
to tell you
that we’re not going there tonight
I go down like the setting sun
a slow crash into the cry of waves
I embed my lack of self control
my total hypocrisy
into what I should have left undone
because you tempt me more than
I can stand
I release the burden of clothes
tucking my conscious failures away
to beat myself with later
because we’re fragile creatures
your warm body was better
than the cold sheets I had waiting elsewhere
we drift apart like flame lanterns
I can feel your victory in the dark
it’s flickering on the ceiling
