Lancelot
Lying here watching you sleep
Had become torture to me
Once I thought I heard a name
But you said a name that wasn't me
The smile on your face said it was a wish or a memory
Maybe of a high sdhool sweetheart
That was there at the start
Do you wish that you could build on those memories
Maybe in a world with more stability
This is a world as we know without me
I come with conversations that may go wrong
We both know I'm not emotionally strong
We live on the edge, we're complicated
Our relationship alone must be navigated
Long nights up are sometimes trying
There's either to much truth or to much lying
But you were good for me, as I for you
We held each other back, then saw each other through
Forget about rocks, you were my boulder
We took on the world, on each other's shoulders
But have the fates truly spoken
Is our love truly broken
Lying here mesmerized by your face
I heard the slightest utterance escape
There it goes you said it again
Who's Lancelot, a lover, a friend
Maybe the cause of sweat appearing on your forehead
How could you invite another man into our bed
But rolling over you looked me right in my eyes
You said, "I was just dreaming of you"
And for reasons I don't know why
I knew that you loved me and it wasn't a lie
Had become torture to me
Once I thought I heard a name
But you said a name that wasn't me
The smile on your face said it was a wish or a memory
Maybe of a high sdhool sweetheart
