Regret

In writing my “Desire” for you, I so deeply have regret
The words I used, so lewd and crude. I am so sorry for that, yet
I wrote those words with honesty, of the things I'd love to do
If we were all alone and naked, and I was making love to you

As the words went on the page, I was losing all control
I knew no other way to put it. I just had to bare my soul
I had to paint a picture of my longing and desire
Of the way I feel for you, the way you light my passion's fire

I understand it fully, if you're turned off by my write
It isn't so romantic. It's what keeps me up at night
If it has damaged our deep friendship, I'm asking you to please forgive
I never meant to do that. I'll love you longer than we'll live

If I can never have you, because our feelings aren't the same
I still want you, as my long time friend, even though my words were lame
Please find it, in that heart of yours, to forgive my words of lust
I got lost in my desire for you. You'll still be my friend, I trust

If not, I'll understand it, for I know I crossed the line
I regret if I upset you with my thoughts to make you mine
If  “Desire”  tore us asunder, that I always will regret
I hope, with time,  you will forgive. I'll be forever in your debt
