Dark blotches reflect the soul
Illuminating to the eye
Shakiness turns to stiffness
The body follows through paralyzing
Red rapidly runs
The red always has the chance to escape
For routine restricts intolerance

Hello there
I really liked this piece and how it explores all the anxiety and self loathing that mental health can trigger. I liked the repetition of those opening lines — as a visual aid it really communicates the thoughts that just seem to play out over and over again.
Finishing it off with “a tired perfectionist” is a fine way to end this poem. It makes me think of my own struggles with OCD and how exhausting that can be.
This is one of the more interesting things that I have read today. Thank you for sharing

Hey, thank you!! The way you perceived it perfectly described my thought process when writing it. It's nice to see that others out there can interpret and relate towards their own experiences:)
There's so much depth and complexity that reflect from a poem that harnesses itself in one's own very personal truth. Taking life struggles head on in your poem, not avoiding but showcasing, so that it's clear and apparent to what you and many like you (🙋🏻♀️me included) might have to deal with on a continual basis, well, it's brave and wholly unselfish. I applaud that type of courage in a write and it inspires me to harness my own brand of of bravery!
