the artist who painted the sky
To the artist who painted the sky,
How did you create something so beautiful?
What is your secret?
Is it that it cannot be touched by the hands of others?
How did you mix your colors?
How did you decide which colors to mix?
How do you make so many different scenes in such little time?
Where did you get your inspiration?
Did you find it in the eyes of a lover?
In the soul of the sea?
In a mirror?
Have you ever considered consistency?
The scenes are so lovely but always changing
And there are days when I wish it would stay the same just a little longer before you perjured your work
How do you hold so tight to your vision?
When everyone is always asking for something different, how do you refuse to be swayed?
Your moods are ever changing and it makes me wonder what trials you have faced
What pains you have felt, what suffering you have encountered
What is your process?
Do you plan each brushstroke with the careful logic of a seamstress?
Or do you simply allow the brush to strike your canvas without thought until something comes of it?
Who taught you to create such mastery?
When did you decide this was your craft?
Did you decide this was your craft? Or did you simply awaken with a gift and purpose?
Can you teach me your methods?
Can you teach me how to hold vision unflinchingly?
How to hold the cosmos in my hands?
How to create beauty in emptiness only to wash it away and start all over?
How to be untouchable and unfathomable?
