The Come Down

 
We build the ride to go high in the sky
With a foundation sturdy
As the heights we defy
We attached our paper wings
And dared each other to go and fly
Knowing one of us might not
Want to go that high

I can wear your heart for forever
I just need to know it matters
Everywhere we’ve gone has been up
But I know at some point we’ll come down
And you’ll be done
I’ll be gone
And all that’ll be left
Is the charred shadow of our crash
 
We spiral with the wind, up and up
Carrying nothing but hopes and dreams
With smiles wide open as we speed up
Holding hands and trading hearts
Never thinking about the clean up
When one of us breaks and
The bodies pile up
