I spent the weekend at the beach sitting on a dune counting waves
With a light salt breeze blowing, I imagined each of them as a life being saved
The back and forth motion of the ocean simply fascinates me
It's simply amazing how human relations can so easily simulate the sea
I collected a little drift wood and a little bit of brush
It was all in preparation of a later and darkened rush
The tackle that I brought wasn't sufficient to yield any fish
But the lies that will be told by both is a succulent dish
Burgers and dogs luckily were brought just in case
I watched as waves rolled back on to waves as if for a taste
We venture back into our very own history, our trash
But then we wonder why does the waves and rocks clash
We clash against each other without familiarity, we don't even speak
But still long to become as one, yes one wave with a white peak
To merge with all of the other sucessful waves along the shore
I'm nothing without you so I pray for the heavenly foam
As I climb into my tent with waves clashing through out the night
The sound lulls me to sleep with Aprodite in my sights
Tidal pools swirl and an under current attempts to attack me
Spinning you out of my mind, and dragging my thought of you out to sea
Overhead shadows threatening storms and bringing fright
I clutched onto nothing praying to make it through out the night
Tossed to and fro like debris or a refugee longing to be saved
I can't wait to return home to you and a rescue is made
With a light salt breeze blowing, I imagined each of them as a life being saved
The back and forth motion of the ocean simply fascinates me
It's simply amazing how human relations can so easily simulate the sea
