The Corpse

Deathly wisps of hallowed thread
Brought the raven upon my bed
Grimiores called but none replied
The raven crowed and then he cried

“Wretched soul, what have you done?
You’ve killed yourself ‘fore life’s begun!”
He crowed once more and flew away
And left a shadow cold and grey

My body stiff yet freshly dead
A corpse remained with wrists stained red
The crow returned and pecked my eyes
Swallowed both and then replied

“For eternity shall your soul remain
Till maggots and flies consume your brain
Punishment due for a life of sin
Forever doomed  of rotting skin”

The muderer recalled of visions past
Of slaughter, death and bodies vast
Killed them all, left none alive
Their beating hearts he so desired

And so it was the stricken corpse
His laments were listened naught
When all was done, none left behind
The Devil exclaimed  “And now you’re mine!”
