CONFESSIONS OF A POETRYAHOLIC
ADDICTED
I can't remember when
it started, my exposure
to poetry; think it was
with my mother's
Saturday evening readings;
then prizes for memorizing
short lines in elementary school.
FROM
Sappho to Shakespeare; from
Bukowski to Blyth; from Dunbar
to Dickenson, from Lu You to Ovid
and hundreds more from underground
unknowns to Broadway stars,
POETRY
has been nourishment that
has fed my soul, dreams,
and desire to craft a line.
I am unashamedly a confirmed
poetryaholic enmeshed deep into
the beauty of words from A to Z.
I, sadly, am not a real poet only
a wanna-be but I thrive on the
words, pictures, readings,
writings, enactments, and
works of others with deep
appreciation thinking, "I wish
I had thought of that...".
POETRY,
is education, therapy, humor,
seriousness, anger, love, hope,
light, darkness, confusion, and
a hundred other things that
touch the inner heart and soul.
Poetry is my healing balm on
long, lonely, questionable nights,
days, and hopes for tomorrow
Meet me at the Kissing Place
and we'll share a poem, as
one addict to another.
