One Second Glance
Days passed by while
Watching the clouds drift;
The sky is so blue,
While I’m running so fast.
The moon followed you
As you kept on running;
The wind felt so good,
You could feel it on your skin.
You were learning things—
The planets and stars,
Taking more adventures,
Passion in your heart.
You woke up so early,
Trace of milk on your lips,
But you were so happy,
Doing a thousand flips.
Faded letters on paper,
You had fun at school.
I miss that vivid smile
Whenever we went to the mall.
I wish I could protect you,
Put you in a container;
I wish you never had to go
And stay here forever.
The rainbow turned gray;
I blinked just once,
It’s been so many days
Since that one second glance.
Watching the clouds drift;
The sky is so blue,
While I’m running so fast.
The moon followed you
As you kept on running;
The wind felt so good,
You could feel it on your skin.
You were learning things—
The planets and stars,
Taking more adventures,
Passion in your heart.
You woke up so early,
Trace of milk on your lips,
But you were so happy,
Doing a thousand flips.
Faded letters on paper,
You had fun at school.
I miss that vivid smile
Whenever we went to the mall.
I wish I could protect you,
Put you in a container;
I wish you never had to go
And stay here forever.
The rainbow turned gray;
I blinked just once,
It’s been so many days
Since that one second glance.
