good morning dearest Al thank you I'm sure you'll get some really great entries look forward to reading them see this part of my problem the need for instant gratification I think it's a great prompt 💕

This is a great topic....and brings up the war between shame and human value.

Some people repeat their past as a matter of odd comfort.  Especially as regards person value or experience.  Those who, for example, had traumatic first time experiences with arousal or self-expression. They may feel the need to repeat their trauma as a triggering for release. This can create compounding and confusing communications with future partners. All the more reason to become aware and understanding.

Instead of judging others, we need to see them through the context of their lives. Issues need not remain so. Talking openly takes the toxicity out of it. What was taboo or painful can become nurturing or supportive in the right light....or darkness.

hello dearest RT thank you for such a very thoughtful comment while I've had trauma in my early life I am not really a pro...I have trouble negotiating life as myself I feel denying your moral core or people pleasing as a form of whoredom...I agree addressing the low self esteem key in changing this... on the other hand don't we all do this to a degree on jobs etc. not always saying what we want I hate it...I deeply cherish your thoughts 💕

I agree. I taught school for 33 years. The adults zi worked for were some of the biggest bullies I've ever met. Still, on behalf of my students I waged a war of attrition for a third of a century.  They called me everything. They often treated me with disgust.

I grew to understand myself and value my scars like any soldier. In the end, that timid, shy, terrified young pup grew into Cerebus, and they learned to keep the hell out of my way; my bite became way worse than my bark. They taught me how to battle. If I was going to fight, I went to war.

I see things that way. Be proud. Be good at what you do. Enjoy survival. Thrive at being happy. Look around every room...all you'll see is equals.

While this is inspired for a comp (all the best btw) this made me think of how I sell myself out and short sometimes for the sake of just getting things done with the least amount of agitation. But I’m hidden in there and when I do actually appear it’s a freedom that sometimes liberated more often scares me. Alas, the conundrum of the century. Your poem runs concurrent with my feelings, it’s wonderful and raw and gritty and really appreciated. H🌷

Excellent flow, raw and stoic if you don't mind me say. I know the comp calls to avoid certain words but you certainly overcome that challenge.
