Just Before Bedtime
Just Before Bedtime
Sleep would seem
The end
Of things
When
All the day
Feels done,
Then nothing left
Calls out
To us,
Each battle's
Being won.
Perhaps
At last,
Just one
More quest,
To sooth
An aching
Soul,
To part
The gown
And kiss
Each sound
That plays
To make us
Whole.
Lips and neck
And bodice cleaned,
Each nibble,
Nitch,
And nary,
To fume
Elect
And thrice
Select,
Consuming
Box and cherry.
Sleep would seem
The end
Of things
When
All the day
Feels done,
Then nothing left
Calls out
To us,
Each battle's
Being won.
Perhaps
At last,
Just one
More quest,
To sooth
An aching
Soul,
To part
The gown
And kiss
Each sound
That plays
To make us
Whole.
Lips and neck
And bodice cleaned,
Each nibble,
Nitch,
And nary,
To fume
Elect
And thrice
Select,
Consuming
Box and cherry.
