Isolated

For forty years  
She worked as an accountant  
Worked and invested  
Amassed a nice bundle.  
An old maid. No family,  
She lived alone  
In her isolated cottage  
In this idyllic village by the sea.  
No family, no visitors,  
Not even stray cats.  
Dead for two years  
A curious passerby  
Found the mummified body  
sitting in her armchair.
