Oldie but goody. I wrote this in 2017 and was finally able to pair with a painting. Painting is from a few weeks ago. Acrylic on canvas. Poem posted below.

Tangerine Dreams
I remember that day
Jumping around
Mother may I?
The creative steps we take
The autumn of my life
Outside it's like love letters;
Bearing souls
The scent of Cellos
weighty and wafting a
Certain calm made
Only for my nose
No, I'm not playing
Yes, I'm out of my mind
Heart's prowling
Stealthily roving like my
teenage Orange tabby cat
In search of his today's prey;
A single stirring bright golden lonewild fallenly leaf
He's whispering love
through all my fingers
Saying,
"take off your clothes"
"Perform"
Yes, my leaf only speaks to me
He's my bebe
Steady swaying my gaze
I turn my back
And start to dance
Percussive movements
As my hips embark
This lonely skyward dark
I'm a little sunflower
With all the grace
Cris cross interlacing my hands
at the bottom of my top
I'm loving this--
All the way bold and
futilely vain
Is this heart?
Lift up and over my head
Going on and on
Thumbs dig in pulling down and
Off they go
The rest of my clothes
I'm nothing but an alien
alone and waiting for
that day to fade into
Tangerine dreams
Contagious?
Wishing they'd impose.
I remember that day
