Flavours
Sweet is just gorgeous,
Whether French vanilla or creamy caramel,
I love it’s sugary stickiness,
And it’s heavy, pungent smell.
Savoury can be good,
As a change from sticky sweet,
Best of all it complements,
A variety of meat.
Bitter I can do without,
Unless tempered with something sweet,
When blended all together,
It can be a sumptuous treat.
Sour can be hard to take,
Especially when really strong,
Or when combined with bitterness,
It simply tastes all wrong.
Salty can be interesting,
Perhaps with sweet caramel?
Whether I’ve had them together,
I will never taste and tell.
Musky tastes so risqué,
My guilty pleasure, wanton vice,
That is makes me ever hungrier,
Is its perverse delight.
But my favourite combination,
Those two closest to my heart,
My most fond indulgence,
Is a mix of sweet and tart.
