My Day One
You knew me before all the damage was done.
Plucked from the crowd and placed together,
Back then it was random chance and innocent love.
Throughout the years, fate revealed a part of it's hand,
As paths split and rebelled yet remained somehow intertwined.
I'm standing here broken and afraid of even you,
You who has known me all these years.
You scolded me when I wasted my talents
Chasing temporary escapes
Until your voice grew tired
And my head was too far gone.
Now no one fusses or calls my bluff,
Just overly nice fronts that I don't trust
Or hurtful jokes followed by a laugh
And an "I'm just kidding."
All my grand dreams of what I could be
Have turned to dust
And slipped through my fingers.
I just watch it blow in the wind
As if I never wanted it to begin with.
Now I stand alone with empty hands,
Hoping someone won't let me slip away.
