Moral Code
…So I scaled back a bit
You know
I can’t complain about the fire
if I added a little bit of the fuel myself
I mean
How often do we stop to admire the flames
Like car crash
(Lookie Loos)
We slow down to see the damage
but we may cause another wreck just the same
Perhaps this is where I decide to become a little more…
What’s the word?
Reserved?
Selective?
You know
When we pick and choose our battles
I can’t be a jack of all trades
when I’m trying to master one
But I try
I just can’t whine about the grapes
Some things are just too sour
Especially when nerves are being rattled
Then again
I find myself knee deep in it
But unlike Pilate after I wash my hands
The shit can stay under the fingernails
And the smell…
Well
You can imagine it lingers for a while
But I’m always open and honest
If there’s a booger hanging I’ll tell ya
If there’s a dagger on your back I’ll help ya get it out
Just don’t ask me to say or do something
that goes against my moral code
I choose to be on side of humanity and kindness
