I See You
To the Vet on the street corner holding a sign that says "anything will help"
I See You
I don't know your story but I see you
Your tattered clothing and weather worn smile
And cracks in your skin like those on a sidewalk
Both telling stories of the impact left behind by the heavy feet of an unforgiving life
I See You
Clutching your stomach
Wondering if it's hunger setting in because you haven't eaten in two days
or sickness overcoming you because you haven't seen a doctor in two years
I See You
Screaming at the top of your lungs to a God so powerful and forgiving
As you baptize yourself in alcohol and regret
Begging Him to take you
but it's not your time yet
I See You
Today I see you not going hungry
Today I see you not being cold
Today you are not alone
And when tomorrow comes
and the sun rises
And you take in that first breath of a new day
Remember
I See You
I See You
I don't know your story but I see you
Your tattered clothing and weather worn smile
And cracks in your skin like those on a sidewalk
Both telling stories of the impact left behind by the heavy feet of an unforgiving life
I See You

I See You
Today I see you not going hungry
Today I see you not being cold
Today you are not alone
And when tomorrow comes
and the sun rises
And you take in that first breath of a new day
Remember
I See You
