A life cycle of doubt

It methodically creeps
like a cunning thief
pilfering
that which is most precious
and dear

Causing shadows
to quietly darken
disintegration of faith—
slowly
crumbles away
anxiety
becomes
the rule
not the exception

Internal calls of sanctuary,
muffle to unheard
a hard grasp
vicegrips
twisting
streams of confidence

Lungs burn
sparse air
life, barely trickles
O' the struggle of breath
within such a stagnant
vacuum

Leaving
nothing
but
densely
corrosive
silence

to
perfectly
permeate

the last
vestiges
of
authentic
certitude.
