The chains of hate

If only I could
I pray that I would
go back
to change the past
take back what was cast
angry words spoke too fast
undo the harm I caused
if only I had paused
before I reacted
with hatred transacted
my soul so diffracted
to go back
all the hateful words undone
before evil had begun
what I had done
hearts turn cold as stone
now I am all alone
hatred grown
reliving the sins
life begins a tailspin
until I find forgiveness
for all the unfinished business
for my hate had chained me
and now I am free
like an amputee
from your fucking goatee

Author's Note
I've heard it said that forgiveness is the ultimate revenge. That you no longer hate and have severed the last ties to someone from the past. Then again, there's nothing like a good hate.
