A Wedding Gift

An intruder in mail - hostile declaration
a war hatchet of one wedding invitation.
With address unknown, with a nostalgic scent,
brings, uninvited, p's q's and - torment.
Reads;
"Hello, old pal. How long has it been?
With so much news - I know not where to begin.
I hope you are well, and without pet peeve,
(forgave) Promises broken, the decade old leave.
I have stocked on milk since; got cigs in the end.
And I'm marrying soon - A one once your friend.
Come - or send gift. If you'll be so kind.
Kisses and hugs; your childhood love signed."

Blame me not - what else could I have sent?
Other, than some twelve wine bottles - Red.
