Lady Dorset (revisited 2)
Lady Dorset
Of Sommerset
Sat by the bay window
Musing and dreaming.
Recently a widow
Her husband on a safari gone
Faced an atrocious death
Too gruesome to describe.
To continue to live and dream
She would strive.
As she was planning a huge fest
To honor a man who, truly,
At times, she secretly despised.
Her new beau-to-be, possibly,
A Lord who cared her lands to oversee
Also a widower,
But with children grown and gone
Away they be.
But undecided she was
Because of her secret life
With her maid and lover Amanda, you see.
She was filled with rage
Over her contemporaries and their
Hypocrisy,
Oscar Wild to a French prison gone
Made an example by hypocrits, yes,
For she knew of an homosexual or two,
Some of royalty,
Of some marrying a woman for show,
Hiding behind a woman's skirt
And sometimes wearing skirts themselves
Behind the doors of their fancy clubs.
She mused and watched
As the handsome man
Approached on horse back.
Would she dare tell and see
Or hold and go on to a love life
or a companionship that would be
A lie?
