unconditionally
you placed in me the capability of being anything I aspired to be
I could have studied the stars
been a doctor and healed the sick
I could have been a lawyer and defended the innocent
in my eagerness to greet the world and be accepted by my peers, I faltered
it was only you and I in the beginning
you ushered me to take my first steps
you alone saw when I step out
we talked about many things
about the world around me
in wonderment I took in creation
you took note of my responses and I grew
I was a different child
relating only to you
other children were of no interest to me
then one day I stopped hearing you and noticed my difference
I sought companionship and acceptance
to the point of people pleasing
soon I no longer knew how I really felt down deep
our honest relationship was clouded by religion
your open kindness was replaced with a conditional love
I even fell for these cults to a degree
then finally after I rejected these schools of thought
I heard you again
my creator and friend
I knew I was interfacing with you
that you never left
you just watched and waited for me to draw my own conclusions
as I study the universes and their nature
I understand more about you
this is a love letter from me to you
I'm grateful to find the ingredients of my nature
are there because of you
I can't put myself down without insulting you
you the artist
I could have been
isn't as beautiful as what I am
