Interesting.
The enemy seems to be hypocrisy.
The sub-text--child sexual abuse?
The melodrama of a person who abuses a child calculating forgiveness--well, that's probably not OK in God's eyes (I'm guessing).
Essentially, from a Christian point-of-view, God is the "judge," and He discerns the heart of a man.
And He doesn't see as a man sees.
Furthermore, judgement is just that--it's not a ledger book, or a calculator, or abacus. It's His judgement in the end.
I would imagine, based on my religious experience, He wouldn't look kindly on someone who wasn't truly sorry, didn't feel true contrition for their sins.
This topic reminds me a bit of the movie, "miller's crossing": the gambler, Tom, takes Bernie into the woods to kill him, but lets him go when he begs and pleads, truly contrite.
However, when Bernie returns to taunt and torment Tom, expecting his hysterics will get him a free pass again, Tom shoots him stone dead.
The Holy Spirit that discerns the heart of man, indeed!
