Among the Gods

He told him "No, don't fly to high
Stay safe in the middle, don't risk you life"
But Icarus
He saw the light

He chased the passion, even as it burned
and oh it burned, it scorched his skin
Daedalus watched in horror
afraid that he was right

Icarus he screamed up high
far from his father's gaze
as feathers drifted downwards
and fell unto the sea

The wax ran down his body
his wings they grew too weak
he plummeted towards earth
but his cry had been with glee

The world paints it as a warning:
Don't dare to fly to high
Don't seek above your station
Don't dare to risk the odds

I don't see it as a tragedy
the fate that he befell
cause for one moment he left our world
and soared among the Gods
