I swallow
back the tears
as they
burn my eyes
the distance
between us now
leaves me hollow
the closeness
we once shared
leaves me breathless
somehow, somewhere
along the way
I lost you
I lost our dreams
So, I'll just be here
inside this place
this prison
of my own self
waiting
waiting
waiting
on a sign
to show me
you're still here

Very profound words. Feeling that isolation from that invisible barrier even though you are right next to the person.
