We The People II

We gave until our hearts bled in a country or war torn
The cries of our fallen heroes in the wind echoes no more
Blood drops entrenched in soil as we stand in a land not of our own
Far away from hugs, kisses, found in a lovable home

Flags at half mast, as the nation sighs
A war ended as time flies
The planes have all flown away
Chaos still lingers, stagnant souls remain under hostage to this day

A knock on my door, ordered to lay on the floor
Papers checked for treason slaughter with weapons left behind
I stood for freedom with the red, white, and blue, my presence was secured by America’s divine

My family and I lay in pools of blood wondering is this our fate
Our destiny decided on a deadline to evacuate
As my eyes slowly close, breaths shallow
No more dreams, aspirations or wishes for peace to follow

To America the beautiful if only I had those papers before they came
To give safe passage to my family if we had made it to that plane
My body and family lie still all that ever was, no longer remains
Tossed in a ditch dug by the Taliban on the side of the road
The greatest lie we will get out you was ever told

In dedication to the Americans left behind, the fallen heroes, and the Afghanistan citizens who assisted America for twenty years who have or will be reprimanded for such brave acts of human kindness
